Did you know
Know what kind of traveler you are … take a look at the graph if just to see the science and where you may fit. This can help you understand a direction to chose or perhaps you want to venture out to another area that you never considered … let’s talk it through and in the mean time I will show you here some options to consider for all different segments.
-
Authentics
A lot of the commercials we see on the TV would best describe those who fit into the far right of this spectrum. A weekend in Vegas, a holiday in the Florida keys, or a trip to Disneyland with the family is a comfortable fit for you. If you want to take a flight across the Atlantic, Paris or London are two popular locations you may feel has familiarity and the allure you are seeking… there are plenty of ready made packages available for you who may fit in the Authentics category.
-
Near-Authentics
Authentics can sometimes graduate to the Near Authentic stage as the begin to venture out a bit more and feel a need to explore a bit more. Taking a cruise to the Bahamas may be a first step in that direction. As cruising becomes a liking perhaps going a bit further but to an English speaking country like Australia or even western Europe countries start to pique your interest. Near-Authentics like to explore places that have some familiar customs but yet different enough to feel they have seen and experienced something new and interesting.
-
Centric-Authentics
These are people who may feel they are born to travel. They are often looking for new places to grow, learn and explore. Western Europe, Canada, the Caribbean are places on their bucket list. Taking a cruise or Tour is also how they like to travel and where they meet new friends. As their bucket list thins out they meet others who may recommend something with less familiar cultural norms in South America or Asia. The comfort of the tours or cruises often give the Centric-Authentics the comfort needed to push the envelope into less familiar countries.
-
Near Venturers
These are people who enjoy going to locations with a rich tradition and where those customs are shared with visitors.. The wooden shoes of Holland, wonders of the world like Machu Picchu or the Cherry Blossoms in Japan are all experiences the Near Venture may have on their bucket list.
-
Venturers
Venturers would likely prefer this label over being seen as a Tourist. Afterall, they go out into the world wanting to explore and fully immerse themselves. They are often adventurers who may go on an Hindu Pilgrimage in India, or want to explore Antarctica. An African Safari would be a bucket list item so long as they are truly in the wild and not in a controlled environment. They take experiential learning to a whole new level. They will make an attempt to learn phrases of the country they are in to illustrate their interest to be part of the community they are visiting the best they can.
